Kid magician from Clitheroe wows online audiences with his dazzling display of card tricks

The 14-year-old spellbinding child entertainer is putting a smile on the faces of people observing the coronavirus lockdown by regularly performing tricks on YouTube. And he will not be leaving people scratching their heads as he records a tutorial revealing his secret behind the trick.

A pupil of Ribblesdale High School, Clitheroe, talented Jasper is no stranger to taking centre stage and performing in front of large and enthusiastic audiences. Earlier this year, he was crowned runner up as he wowed a sell out crowd at the Grand Theatre's inter-school's GRAB talent competition.

His proud parents, Paul and Clare Cherry, said: "We are super proud of Jasper. He is always performing tricks and last week decided to teach children who are bored and in isolation a new skill....magic! His tricks vary in time, but are less than five minutes. He has a bank full of illusions and he has previously been a hit at weddings and children's parties. Since he began uploading his tricks to YouTube, he has 180 subscribers. He puts so much effort into his tricks and we are delighted he can share his trickery with budding magicians out there. Unfortunately, because he is under 18, no comments are allowed otherwise we would have loved to receive some feedback."

Claire added: "Magic has developed Jasper's confidence. Jasper has always been a quiet, shy boy, but when he gets on the stage and performs his magic tricks, he turns into a different person who is full of confidence."

Self-taught magician Jasper, who is a big fan of street illusionist Dynamo, said: "When I perform a magic trick, I love the amazement on the faces of my audiences. It makes me very happy that I can use my lockdown time by sharing my magic tricks with children and adults."
