Reece Burton, who is manager at Costa Coffee inside Burnley's Tesco store, has been out and about delivering drinks, cakes and treats to people in the community.

"It was of way of letting people know they haven't been forgotten and to help cheer them up if they have been affected in any way by Covid 19," said Reece who has been manager at the cafe for seven years.

Forced to close during lockdown Reece, who is 28, and his staff, assistant manager Joanne Aspden and barista maestro Amy Williams missed their loyal customers and came up with the idea to go out to them.

Supported by the company's community programme, Reece asked for nominations for the scheme and so far he has brought some cheer to around 20 people in the town.

Reece said: "It has been wonderful to see people as many of them have faced a really challenging and difficult time.

"It was awful for us having to close but we had no option so we have tried to stay postive throughout everything that has been happening."

Although Reece has now been able to re-open on a take out basis, he hopes to continue with the community scheme. Anyone who wishes to nominate someone for a coffee drop off from Reece can do so by ringing the shop on 01282 431387 or go to the Tesco Burnley facebook page.
