BURLY builders are not normally known for their fondness for pink, but a good cause can work wonders!
People passing Whalley Methodist Churh and Trinity Methodist, Clitheroe, did a double take on seeing construction workers decked out in bright pink hard hats and hi-vis jackets. The workers, from Accrington-based Rosslee Construction, were supporting the Breast Cancer Campaign’s “Wear It Pink” day. The whole team, from office to site staff, wore pink, with construction manager Gareth Williams even dying his hair!
Breast Cancer is the most common form of cancer and one woman in nine will be affected by it during her lifetime in the United Kingdom.
Rosslee Construction raised more than £500 throughout the day for this worthy cause and the company’s Christine Clarkson said: “It was fun taking part in the ‘Wear it Pink’ campaign, not only did our own team take part but a lot of our subcontractors also joined in and wore pink.”
