Mum on attempted murder charge of newborn baby son weeps in court
A woman charged with the attempted murder of her newborn son wept as she appeared in court for the first time.
Orsolya Anmaria Balogh entered no plea when she stood before Manchester and Saldord Magistrates on Saturday.
The 26-year-old, who spoke through a Romanian interpreter to confirm her name and date of birth, has been charged after her baby boy was found abandoned in the toilets at Wigan Infirmary last Wednesday, July 6.
She did not enter a plea to the charge and was remanded in custody to re-appear at Liverpool Crown Court on August 5.
The baby was resuscitated and police have since said he is recovering well.
A 31-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been eliminated from enquiries.
