A RIBBLE Valley pub has won the enthusiastic backing of the area’s MP in its bid for a national title.

Nigel Evans, MP for Ribble Valley and Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons, has congratulated Steve and Christine Dilworth on their pub, The Swan with Two Necks in Pendleton, getting down to the final four in the running for CAMRA’s National Pub of the Year Award 2012.

Having already been crowned regional champions by CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale), Steve and Christine now hope to bring the national award back to Pendleton.

Mr Evans said: “Steve and Christine have done a fantastic job for almost 25 years. Over that time they have built up a huge, loyal following not just in the Ribble Valley but from all over!

“They have been recognised by CAMRA before, but to be within touching distance of the award for best national pub is an enormous credit to Steve, Christine and all the staff at The Swan with Two Necks. At a time when there are pubs struggling across the UK it is great to have a success story on our own doorstep – quite literally in my case!

“The recognition thus far is duly deserved and I really hope that The Swan with Two Necks takes the national award. It would be a fitting testament to Steve and Christine for making it a fantastic, welcoming local pub in the Great British tradition.”
