Two Barnoldswick men were taken to hospital with serious injuries after a motorcycle crash in Gisburn.

Police said the incident happened in Main Street, close to Strawberry Fields, at 8-20pm yesterday (Thursday) after a motorcycle overtook a tractor on the wrong side of the road.

Once the bike got back onto the right side of the carriageway the rider is said to have lost control. Police said the 22-year-old male rider of the bike suffered a broken ankle, while the 19-year-old pillion rider suffered what police described as a "serious leg injury". Both men were taken to Royal Preston Hospital.

The tractor driver was not injured in the accident.

The road was closed reopening at 11 pm last night.
