Motorcyclist dies in road collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist died following a collision with a car in Blackburn on Monday afternoon.

The incident happened around 4-40 pm on Higher Ramsgreave Road, when Kevin Donaghue (46) from Clayton-le-Moors was travelling along the road and lost control of his Kawasaki bike resulting in the collision with an oncoming VW Golf.

Mr Donaghue suffered multiple injuries and was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where he died a short time later. The road was closed for four hours following the incident.

PS Tracey Ward of the Road Policing Team said: “This is a tragic loss for the family of Mr Donaghue who are being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time. I am keen to speak to anyone that may have been travelling along Higher Ramsgreave Road at the time of the incident and any information they may have could help us to establish exactly how this collision occurred.”
