From family crafts to dark skies the Festival Bowland events programme is a great way to make the most of autumn in Bowland.
Take inspiration from Gisburn Forest on Sunday, September 10th, and paint your very own Bowland in miniature picture on a tiny glass tile with local artist, Karen Redmayne. Karen will then take the tiles back to her Barrowford studio for firing so that the artist has a lasting masterpiece.
Celebrate the start of Outstanding Week on Saturday, September 16th, and enjoy a family-friendly craft session at Tosside Community Hall when organisers will be bringing the beautiful autumn colours inside with hand-made paper window hangings.
Then on Saturday, September 23rd, there is the chance to have a go at some Equinox star gazing back at Gisburn Forest Hub. Everyone will be keeping their fingers crossed for good weather to experience an unforgettable night under the stars, travelling through the constellations and along the Milky Way. An indoor presentation will be followed by the opportunity to look through powerful telescopes operated by experienced amateur astronomers. The event is suitable for adults and accompanied children 12 years and over.
Browsholme Hall’s characterful Tithe Barn is once again the venue for the annual Lord of Bowland Lecture on Tuesday, October 3rd, and, this year, those who attend will be finding out all about the Parker family, the Bowbearers of Bowland.
Most Festival Bowland events, although not all, need to be pre-booked. Full details and booking information can be found at: www.forestofbowland.com/Festival-Bowland-Events or by calling the Forest of Bowland AONB office on 01200 448000.
