Volunteers of a life-saving charity are currently collecting door-to-dooor in Clitheroe.
All fundraisers of Macmillan Cancer Support will be wearing Macmillan branded clothing and carrying the charity’s literature with them. They will also have an ID card branded with HOME Fundraising and their photograph.
Fundraisers operate between 3 pm and 9 pm on weekdays and noon and 6 pm on weekends. They will only ask for an account number and sort code in order to set up a direct debit and are not able to accept cash or one off card donations for security reasons. Fundraising in this way allows the charity to reach more people and is a cost effective way of securing regular, long term donations.
A spokesman for Macmillan Cancer Support said: “Our door-to-door campaign will raise an estimated £6m. for Macmillan in the next five years but, not only that, we are able to talk to more people about how to access our vital services.
“If residents have queries or concerns about our fundraisers, they are able to contact the Macmillan Fundraising Support Centre on 0300 1000 200. Lines are open Monday to Friday between 9 am and 5 pm and calls are charged at local rates.”
If you or a loved one have been affected by cancer and you would like to find out more about the support available from Macmillan, they have a free Support Line available on 0808 808 00 00. Lines are open Monday to Friday between 9 am and 8 pm. For support outside of these times, visit www.macmillan.org.uk.
