Local radio presenter quits live on air

A presenter on local radio station 2BR has dramatically quit live on air this evening.

Teatime show presenter Chris Dean told producer Gemma Baron he would leave his job at the end of his show tonight at 7pm after they had a heated discussion live on air about her decision to pull his “Tim v Chris” feature in which he challenged breakfast show presenter Tim Littlechild to various tasks. Previous challenges have involved go-karting, golf and waxing.

Chris challenged Gemma over her decision, saying he “loved” the feature and had a “great sense of pride in it”.

However, Gemma justified her decision to end the slot saying Chris needed to “up his game”, accusing him of missing his deadline for presenting ideas for challenges and not coming up with good enough ideas.

Mid discussion, Chris announced “I’m going to leave my job at 2BR”, saying former presenter Gemma “didn’t know what a good idea sounds like” and adding he did not want her to have “that much control over my output” and she was “constantly bearing down”.

A shocked Gemma denied she was holding the reins too tight and told him he was “totally over-reacting”, urging him to “calm down” and “sleep on it” before making a decision.

The discussion ended with Chris playing an M People track.
