Clitheroe’s newest hotel has been featured in The Guardian’s top 20 best new hotels and hostels for 2018.
The 1823 Spinning Block Hotel sits alongside rustic hostels and chic city-centre boltholes on the newspaper’s list which The Guardian’s Joanne O’Connor describes as a pick of the best newly opened hotels and hostels around the UK, plus several that are set to start welcoming guests this year.
The Spinning Block Hotel is a conversion of the oldest building within the Holmes Mill site to create 38 individually designed and decorated bedrooms. Located in a restored Victorian mill, this former weaving shed has been reinvented as a chic boutique hotel with many of the original features preserved. Phase one is now complete, which consists of 16 rooms on the top floor – 15 doubles and one family room. Work is ongoing on phase two and it is hoped that the remaining 22 rooms will be open for Easter.
Also featured on the list are The Fleece Hotel in Richmond, which opens in April, and Longstone Lodge, rare budget accommodation on the Isles of Scilly. More locally, there’s Cow Hollow Hotel, which is situated in Manchester’s Northern Quarter and a small hostel in Earby – the Friends of Nature House.
