Landlord tied up in pub robbery

A pub landlordwas tied up by raiders in a bank holiday raid on a rural pub.

He was locking up at the Black Bull in High Street, Great Eccleston in the early hours of Tuesday morning when he was set upon by a number of men who had been waiting in an upstairs area.

Then 58-year-old victim was tied to a chair.

The man was tied up by four men wearing balaclavas and carrying knives.

He was assaulted before the men, described as speaking with Merseyside accents, stole a substantial amount of cash and fled.

The victim suffered an injury to his eye and suspected broken ribs. He later managed to free himself and ran for help to the White Bull pub across the street.

He was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment and is being supported by friends and family.

No-one else was in the pub at the time.

Detective Inspector Lee Wilson, of Blackpool CID, said: “This was a vicious robbery carried out by men who clearly had no hesitation is using extreme levels of violence to get what they wanted.

“I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious at the time, or any people or vehicles acting suspiciously in the days before the robbery, and anyone who has any information about who these offenders could be, to get in touch with us.”
