Jewellery raid at county show
Police are investigating the theft of jewellery worth around £18,000 at last weekend’s Royal Lancashire Show.
Raiders struck during the night of Friday/Saturday, snatching rings, bracelets, necklaces and bangles - mainly silver - from a number of stalls in a marquee at the Salesbury Hall showfield in Ribchester.
The theft was discovered at around 7am on Saturday when traders arrived for the second day of the popular event.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “Offenders have made their way into a marquee where there were quite a few stalls.
“They took around £18,000 worth of jewellery items from a number of the stalls, along with a quantity of fudge.
“The theft is still being investigate. But if anyone has any information which could lead to the recovery of these items we would urge them to let us know.”
Anyone with information can ring police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
