Six young people from the Ribble Valley have been rewarded for their caring attitude.
At a special presentation held at the Ribble Valley Borough Council chamber, the six young carers were presented with their Adventure Service Challenge certificates by Ribble Valley Mayor Coun. Richard Sherras and his consort, Mrs Lynne Pate.
The Adventure Service Challenge involves young people under the age of 14 completing training and participation in a variety of areas. These include First Aid, outdoor activities, service, cooking and crafts. As part of the challenge the Young Carers took part in a camping weekend, which included walking and cooking their own food.
During the evening, two young carers gave a short presentation about the award, their participation in it and how they had benefited from it. They explained that taking part had helped increase their self confidence, belief that they can achieve things, and supported them in their caring role as well.
