Russ McLean, Chairman of the Patient Voices Group of East Lancs Medical Services, was guest speaker when e Ribble Valley Macmillan Cancer Support “100 Club” held its February Lunch at Mitton Hall, near Whalley.
Almost 100 members and guest attended the lunch, where Mr McLean spoke about the 20 years of the ELMS providing its out-of-hours services by local GPs, and the Patient Voices Group that provides feedback to local NHS organisations. It proved to be a very informative and valuable talk.
Also at the lunch the Committee received numerous donations and the proceeds of fund-raising events totalling £3,600, with proceeds from this lunch adding another £1,400.
Among the donations was a cheque for £947 from Mrs Linda Bindless in memory of her husband, Clitheroe Rotarian Gerry Bindless.
Also there as a guest was Marion Willoughby of the St Paul’s Working Men’s Club, who had previously donated £1,000 raised through a sponsored “Shave-a-thon” at the club.
The Committee thanks all the members for their support and the continued support of local businesses and Ribble Valley residents.
