Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans visited Clitheroe’s state-of-the-art community hospital on Friday.
Mr Evans was shown around the hospital, based in Chatburn Road, by Christine Pearson, Chief Nurse at the Trust, and Matron Joanne Gardiner.
He was pleased with the high starndard of care and health services being offered. A spokesman for the 32-bed hospital said: “He was very impressed with the new building and facilities and care given to the patients both on the Ribblesdale Ward and in the outpatient clinic area.”
Speaking after the tour of the hospital, which opened in June last year, Mr Evans said: “I was delighted to have the opportunity to visit Clitheroe Hospital and talk to its patients and hard-working staff.
“Rural areas are often overlooked when it comes to funding for public services and the Ribble Valley was crying out for Clitheroe Hospital to be opened. It is to the benefit of the whole community that it is up and running so successfully.”
