A CHARITY “Zumbathon” will be held in the New Year at St Augustine’s RC High School, Billington.

Each year, Ribble Valley Zumba Ladies hold a charity event to raise funds for local charities.

Last year, an event organised by Louise Moore and Beverley Dickinson raised a great amount for Derian House.

This year, to raise further funds for charity and to celebrate the 40th birthdays of some of the Zumba girls, two hours of “mince pie calorie burning booty shaking” Zumba will be staged on Saturday, January 7th.

The event’s main organiser is Cath Gill, along with Charlotte Chapman, who are being helped by Louise Moore and Beverley Dickinson, the latter two who are both training to become Zumba teachers, plus super Zumba master Kathryn Stratton.

The event starts at 10 a.m. and finishes at noon, with St Augustine’s RC High School loaning the use of its sports hall.

Other people have offered their help on the car park, making teas and coffees, the Toby Jug tea shop in Whalley is donating flap jacks, and other local businesses have donated raffle prizes such as a freestyle and finish with PJ Palmers and two Blackburn Rovers tickets.

Tickets to take part in the Zumbathon cost £5, with all the funds raised going to the ladies’ two charities.

For tickets, call Charlotte on 07748 632458, or turn up on the day and a pay £5 at the door.
