Hand-made wedding card wings its way from Rimington to Prince William

Water aid - Guest speaker at Rimington WI meeting Mr Chris Wilcock described the work of the charity Water Aid which brings the chance of clean water and sanitation to people in Third World countries.

WI president Mrs Elizabeth Robinson gave details of a proposed visit to Rufford Old Hall on May 23rd and other possible events in the pipeline include a car treasure hunt, fashion show and visit to a local garden.

A beautifully crafted wedding celebration card, made by Mrs Margaret Silverwood, was admired and will soon be on its way to Prince William and his bride.

At next month’s meeting a bring-and-buy stall will be held and Mrs Robinson’s suggestion for a cheese, wine and nibbles supper met with approval.

WI walk’s co-ordinator Mrs Barbara Spencer told of an enjoyable ramble in warm sunshine along Todber Lane and Gisburn Old Road with a sighting of alplacas in a roadside field.

Following the meeting, Steven and Heidi Burnham opened their Fair Trade stall for members to stock up.

Bekka Close will speak about “The Threat from Within” at next month’s meeting.
