After 81 miles and six days of mud, rain, mist, cold winds, laughter and tears the challenge to walk the Dales Way in aid of charity has finally come to fruition raising more than £5,000.
Following her treatment for breast cancer in 2013 and 2016, Marcia Morris, of Grindleton, decided she would like to give something back to the Rosemere Cancer Foundation, based in Preston Royal Hospital, where she received such care and help.
Family and friends rallied round and their generous donations to the charity were both amazing and astounding, surpassing all expectations.
"It was a tough trek, under difficult conditions, but well-worth the effort because of the generosity of everyone, from near and far, who donated," said Marcia, a former feature writer for the Clitheroe Advertiser and Times, working in the Clitheroe office for more than 30 years.
Along with husband Vic, the couple set off from Ilkley walking along the banks of the River Wharfe eventually reaching the final stage, six days later, at Bowness-on-Windermere, where a well-earned drink was enjoyed with friends.
