Clitheroe Castle Museum will host a fun painting event later this month.

The Great British Brush Off will take place on Sunday, June 24th, from noon until 4pm in the Steward's Gallery.

Anyone taking part will be able to create their own face of a famous person on a brush. People can bring their own brush or buy one on the day.

The event will be run by local artist Adrienne Seed, the winner of the annual Ribble Valley Open exhibition 2017. Adrienne will be choosing a winning brush face at the event.

Adrienne's work is currently being exhibited in the Steward's Gallery as the prize for winning the main Selectors' Choice award of the Ribble Valley Open exhibition. This event will take place to coincide with the last day of Adrienne's work being showcased.

County Coun. Peter Buckley, Lancashire County Council's cabinet member for community and cultural services, said: "This event should be great fun for adults and children alike.

"I hope that people do come along and be creative in a light-hearted way."

The annual Ribble Valley Open exhibition is an opportunity for local amateur and professional artists to submit work on a given theme.

This year's Ribble Valley Open Art Exhibition will run from Saturday, July 28th, until Monday, September 24th. The closing date for submissions is Friday, June 29th.

The Steward's Gallery is open daily at 11am to 4pm until October and noon to 4pm from November to March.

There is a cost of £2 to take part in the event and the admission to the exhibition within the Steward's Gallery part of Clitheroe Castle is free.

Admission to Clitheroe Castle Museum is £4-40 for adults and £3-30 for concessions. Children and young people up to the age of 18 years go free. Children up to 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Limited disabled parking is available at the museum. Parking is also available on car parks in the town centre.
