A question mark is hanging over the future of the Homebase store in Clitheroe.

Nearly 2,000 members of staff from across the country could be axed after the chain’s Australian owner, Wesfarmers, launched a review of the business that may see 20 to 40 of the worst performing DIY stores close.

It is unclear yet whether the Clitheroe store, based on Queensway, will be affected.

A spokesperson for the business said: “It’s too early to comment on which stores might be affected and our team will always be the first to know of any updates.”

The Clitheroe store opened in 2009 creating 40 jobs at the time.
