Firefighters from Padiham rolled up their sleeves for a charity car wash over the Easter weekend which raised the grand total of £1,200.

Organised by crew manager Christian Lopez and firefighter Laura Herdman the event was held on the car park at the town's Tesco store.

Management and staff from the store helped to stage the car wash and Eric Broadbelt, who owns the Hardware store in Padiham, donated collection buckets.

Firefighter Lopez said: "We managed to raise just over £1,200 with the help of gift aid also and lots of people made a donation without having their cars washed."

Lancashire's Chief Fire Officer Chris Kenny also paid a visit to the team to show his support for the team.

The money will be donated to the firefighters' charity that helps rehabilitate injured firefighters and also help with mental health issues and respite care.
