A FARMER led his sheep to safety from a burning barn in Chipping at the weekend.

The blaze, which started when a tractor set alight, began around 9 p.m. on Saturday in the barn off Mill Lane.

All the sheep were rescued by the farmer before firefighters used two hose reels, breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera to control the fire.

The tractor was completely destroyed in the fire which also caused some damage to the barn.
