Ex Ribble Valley Mayoress dies at 104

Tributes have been paid to former Ribble Valley Mayoress Dorothy Green, who has died aged 104.

Married to Ribble Valley Borough Councillor Fred Green, Mrs Green was his mayoress when he became the third mayor of the newly-created borough in 1976-77.

Current Ribble Valley Mayor Coun. Michael Ranson said: “Dorothy was a part of a past era of Ribble Valley life and the borough’s history.

“Fred was a Conservative councillor for Wilpshire for many years and he and Dorothy attended mayoral functions at the borough for many years.”

Mrs Green’s funeral is being held on Thursday at Blackburn Cathedral at 10 am.
