SHOWERS didn’t stop play when parents, pupils and teachers from Pendle Primary school in Clitheroe turned out to support the annual Friends of Pendle BBQ.

Despite a last minute dash by organisers to move many planned outdoor events into the school building to avoid the downpour, guests were still able to enjoy many stalls such as a coconut shy, panning for “gold”, nail painting and a popular chocolate tombola to name but a few.

The barbecue went ahead under the cover of a marquee and the children enjoyed a disco while the parents relaxed over a glass of wine.

The annual occasion is the group’s biggest fund-raising event of the school calendar and this year was no exception raising nearly £1,700, which will be spent on equipment for the school.

Organiser Sarah Priory said: “We had reservations when we saw the weather, but the event was a huge success, everyone had a great time and we have raised a fantastic amount of money for the school.” The Friends next fund-raising event is the annual Christmas Fayre on Saturday, December 3rd, at 1 p.m.. All are welcome to come and enjoy a glass of mulled wine while perusing the Christmas stalls stocked with Virgin Vie, Jamie at Home and Barefoot Books products.
