Outstanding Ofsted report for Ribble Valley high school

High-flying pupils and staff at a Billington school are celebrating after receiving an outstanding Ofsted report.

It is understood St Augustine’s RC High School is one of only a handful of secondary schools to be judged by Ofsted as outstanding in every area since the introduction of a new, more rigorous inspection framework in September.

Inspectors noted the quality of teaching, behaviour and safety of pupils, leadership and management, plus achievement of pupils were all outstanding.

Delighted with the report, headteacher Mr Michael Wright, who joined the school in 2012, said: “It is the 50th anniversary of the school this year and this is a wonderful way to celebrate all of the achievements of the school over that time.

“We are very pleased with the outcome of the inspection, which recognises outstanding practice in all areas of the school’s work. The success of our school is down to the hard work and commitment of everybody connected with St Augustine’s. We have a highly dedicated staff team, wonderful children, excellent governors and a very supportive parent body.”
