PUPILS at Chatburn Primary School gave their local librarian a warm send-off when she retired with eight-and-a-half years’ service under her belt.

Christine Woodworth, branch manager at Chatburn Library, was presented with flowers, gifts and a huge card with the signature and self-portrait of every pupil from the school and even a sing-along at the school’s assembly.

Headmaster Mr Maude said the school had enjoyed very close connections with Christine and that she had been a “marvellous” friend to them during her time at the library.

Christine thanked the school and wider community for its tremendous support and friendship. She said it had been “the best job ever” and that she hoped everyone will support the new librarian in the same way.
