IN an effort to get families to eat healthy food Grindleton Primary School took part in a national challenge called “Let’s Get Cooking Big Cookathon”.
About 20 children and staff took part in cooking in school and many more parents and villagers cooked at home. Everyone made ham and leek cheesy crumble and some veggies had the veggie option – cheesy vegetable crumble. The final numbers who took part have yet to be counted up before sending off to beat last year’s success when more than 50,000 people took up the challenge.
“It was a very easy recipe aimed at getting families cooking healthy, tasty food, from scratch” said Carolyn Doherty teaching assistant at the school. “All the children had a really good time.”
