TWO Ribble Valley primary schools will benefit from a new round of investment in repairs to Lancashire’s schools
Pendle Primary School, in Clitheroe, will get re-slating works to its roof estimated at £165,800 and remedial works to its heating system put at £70,000. Meanwhile the boiler will be replaced at Sabden Primary School, at a cost of £65,000.
Those schemes are part of a package of repairs and remedial work totting up to more than £14m. acrosss Lancashire. Most of the repairs are to roofs and windows and include replacing leaky skylights, roof coverings and window frames. Many schools will also be getting new boilers to ensure pupils are warm this winter – and that their school is more eco-friendly.
County Councillor Susie Charles, Cabinet Member for Children and Schools, signed off the plans. She said: “I am very pleased to be able to agree to a second substantial investment in our school buildings.
“If this winter is anything like the previous two have been, I shall rest easier knowing that our schools in greatest need of repairs are being made warm and weathertight.”
