A driver had to be cut free from his car after he swerved to avoid an obstacle in the road and collided with a wall in Bank Top, Sawley on Sunday evening.
Fire crews from Clitheroe were called to the scene at around 11-15pm and used cutting equipment to remove the roof of the Peugeot car to free the male driver who was taken to hospital suffering with back pain.
Clitheroe Fire Station watch manager Dave McGrath said: “The driver was travelling home from work when he swerved to avoid something in the road and collided with the wall as it was pitch black at the time.’’
Motorists stopping to watch caused a four car shunt during a rush hour road collision on Monday afternoon.
Two cars had collided in Sawley Brow at around 5pm and one of the drivers, a 71-year-old woman, was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary after complaining of chest pains.
