Two separate notes circulated to homes and businesses in the Ribble Valley in the days leading up to the General Election have been branded “disgusting” by people who received them anonymously through their doors.

Signed from “the voting public” and “from a concerned electorate”, the notes made personal references to incumbent MP Nigel Evans, using homophobic language, and urged householders not to vote for the Conservative candidate.

An angry householder commented: “I am beyond disgusted at the vile language used in these notes and think it’s a such a cowardly thing to do, especially as they were not even signed.”
