Crow Wood centre named Health Club of Year
Crow Wood Leisure beat off competition from more than 150 other clubs nationwide for the coveted prize at the National Fitness Awards which recognise excellence in independent health club operators, gym owners and local fitness authorities.
The awards ceremony, now in its second year, was hosted by “Coronation Street”’s Katherine Kelly, who plays Becky McDonald and was also attended by cage fighter Alex Reid and his wife and Big Brother star Chantelle Houghton.

Hide AdSponsored by Kettlercise UK and held at the International Conference Centre, Birmingham, the awards also saw the gym at the St Peter’s Leisure Centre, Burnley, shortlisted in the Local Authority Gym of the Year category.
Mr Andrew Brown, Crow Wood managing director, said: “It is the first time we have entered this competition and we only entered one category.
“The judges were looking for best practice, range and quality of facilities and customer care.
“It is a fantastic recognition of the quality and commitment of all our staff at Crow Wood, it marks without question, the most significant award we have won to date, I am absolutely delighted.”

Hide AdFive-hundred entrants competed for approximately 10 different categories and the final six in each class were visited by an independent assessor.
The assessor spent three hours at Crow Wood and took hundreds of photos for the judging panel.
