Clitheroe police want to speak to two young women in connection with series of forged £20 notes being used to buy goods in Clitheroe town centre yesterday (Tuesday).

Police are looking to trace two similar looking young women – or what may be the same woman wearing different clothes – who bought low-priced items on Clitheroe Market and in the town’s Oxfam shop and received in the region of £18 or £19 pounds in change.

PC Mark Parrington said: “We have managed to recover two of the forged notes which will be finger printed and we are also reviewing CCTV footage.”
