A CLITHEROE teenager went on a wrecking spree after an argument with his mother.

Blackburn magistrates heard how Joshua Coulbeck smashed three shop windows in Wellgate and then knocked a wing mirror off a parked taxi.

Coulbeck (19), of Bolland Prospect, pleaded guilty to damaging windows at Wellgate Fishmongers, Miles Griffiths Antiques and Hoody Marvellous and damaging a taxi belonging to Gohar Nawaz. He was fined £100 with £15 costs and ordered to pay £700 in compensation.

Ms Parveen Akhtar (prosecuting) said Coulbeck told police he had been drinking heavily after arguing with his mother and admitted that he had no connection with any of the property owners.

Mr Jonathan Taylor (defending) said Coulbeck had been with his mother when he overheard something.

“He doesn’t want me to go into details in open court, but it is fair to say he reacted angrily,” said Mr Taylor.

“He lost his temper and took it out on these properties and is genuinely remorseful.

“He accepts that the property owners deserve to be compensated and it is going to be a very expensive night out,” added Mr Taylor.
