The manager of a Clitheroe retirement development has described a recent spate of damage to the perimeter fence of the complex as “Senseless vandalism”.

There has been a total of five reported incidents of criminal damage to the boundary fence at the Well Court development over recent weeks.

Police are currently investigating the incidents and appealing for witnesses.

Police Community Support Office Clare Moore said:

“We are currently making CCTV enquires in the area and letters have been delivered to local residents requesting any information about the damage and asking them to report any other incidents which may be related.”

Nadia Hothersall, development manager at the complex said: “The people that live here are senior citizens and the vandalism has made some of them very nervous. We paid for repairs to the fence the first couple of times that it happened, but we have a very limited budget and can’t afford to keep replacing the panels. It’s just senseless vandalism.”
