Police are appealing for witnesses after a burglary and an attempted burglary took place in Whalley on Thursday.

The first offence took place sometime between 1 and 1-40pm in Limefield Avenue. The offender used garden tools to smash a double glazed door window at the rear of the property to gain access to the house.

The second offence took place at a neighbouring property around the same time, with the offender again using garden tools to smash a double glazed unit in a rear door to the house. Fortunately the offender was disturbed by another neighbour, resulting in the offender making off on foot towards Station Road.

The offender is believed to be described as a white male, with greying hair, slim build, aged about 40 - 50 years. The man is also described as wearing a blue boiler suit/overalls or similar.

Anybody with any information regarding either of the crimes can ring police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
