Man seriously hurt in A59 crash: police appeal

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious accident in Clayton-le-Dale.

The incident happened about 11-30pm yesterday (December 18th) when a Vauxhall Corsa travelling from Preston to Clitheroe on the A59 lost control and collided with a lamp post.

The driver and only person in the car, a 21-year-old man from Samlesbury, suffered serious head, chest and spleen injuries and was taken by ambulance to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

The road was closed for four hours for accident investigation.

Sgt Mick Young, of the Road Policing Unit, said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or the car in the moments before it occurred to get in touch with us.”
