A CLITHEROE man hit his partner over the head with a torch during a late night row.
Blackburn magistrates heard that 53-year-old John Walter Young had taken the torch to go and feed the rabbit and still had it in his hand when he returned to the house where the argument continued.
Tina Johnson was left with blood pouring from the back of her head after he struck her twice and with such force that the torch broke.
Young, of Hayhurst Farm Terrace, pleaded guilty to assault. He was made subject to community supervision for 12 months and ordered to pay £85 costs.
The defendant, who was not represented, said they had both been drinking on the night. Since the incident they had sat down and discussed matters and had now banned drinking in the house altogether.
