A teenager showing off to friends was arrested for drink-driving.

Daniel James Lawson told Blackburn magistrates he had only driven to the end of the road and back after
going to his girlfriend’s car to get a CD.

“I was a stupid idiot,” he said. Lawson (19), of Chapel Rise, Billington, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol, without insurance and without a licence.

He was banned for 18 months and fined £170 with £105 costs.

Miss Catherine Allan (prosecuting) said police saw a car being driven the wrong way up a one way street without lights on.

Lawson said he had been at a house party and had taken the keys to his girlfriend’s car to get a CD.
