Double the drink-drive limit

A LANGHO man was more than double the legal drink-drive limit when he was stopped while driving home in the early hours of the morning.

Blackburn magistrates heard that 22-year-old Declan Fitzhenry had been drinking at a friend’s house in Hurst Green, but decided to drive home because his father was away and he didn’t want to leave his mother on her own.

Fitzhenry, of The Rhydings, Langho, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. He was fined £130 with £70 costs and banned from driving for 18 months.

Mr Jonathan Taylor (defending) said his client was currently working at The Freemasons Arms in Wiswell but hoped to commence training as a Royal Navy officer in the near future.

“This is a young man who is extremely remorseful,” said Mr Taylor.
