Police are appealing for information after a vulnerable teenager was robbed in Clitheroe.

The 19-year-old male victim was sitting on the benches outside the White Lion pub in Market Place about 5pm on Sunday when a male sat near him on the bench, attacked him with a bottle and stole £50 cash. The attacker then made off on foot.

He is described as white, in his late 20s, of average build, with dark brown hair, wearing dark trousers, a hooded top, unzipped, that had a cream/light-coloured lining in the hood, the same coloured single stripe down each sleeve and a band of the same colour around the top of each sleeve.

Det. Insp. Nick Hodgeson, of Burnley police’s hate crime unit, said: “This was a despicable crime carried out on a vulnerable young man and I would appeal for anyone with information to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting log number 1254 of June 1st or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
