CANNABIS with an estimated street value of over £35,000 has been found at a farm in Mellor.
Officers from Eastern Divisions Intelligence Department and Operations Support Unit raided the property on Mellor Lane around 10.30am on Tuesday after receiving concerns from members of the public.
Officers discovered 89 plants in a garage and a large shed and a 65-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of producing cannabis.
Detective Inspector Mark Winstanley said: “We were acting on information from members of the public. We’d had a lot of reports from people who had noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from the address.
“It was a very large for such a rural location and I hope it sends a message out to the public that the police will act on their concerns. We will continue to do everything we can to remove drugs from our streets and I urge anyone who is suspicious to contact us.”
