Firefighters extinguished a field on fire at Wadington Fell Quarry in Slaidburn Road yesterday (Thursday).
Six fire engines and crews (Clitheroe, two from Blackburn and two from Burnley/Nelson) responded to the fire at 3-15pm yesterday.
Firefighters used a stretch of open water to supply two main jets and a hosereel to extinguish the fire.
A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue said: "Two hours on (at 5pm) the fire was reducing in scale and two Burnley and one Blackburn engine and crew were able to return to their stations. No-one has been injured and the caused of the fire is to be established."
