Country music band man Tom dies

A man born in Burnley – later growing up in Worsthorne but then living at a farm in Pendle with his wife from Nelson – has died in Wales.

Mr Tom Kellett met his wife at the old and then highly popular Romany Nightclub in Scotland Road, Nelson.

The couple then married in Nelson on January 5th, 1957.

His daughter Gillian Hodkinson said: “My dad Tom passed away on January 16th, aged 80.

“He was living in Pen Bryn, Brynteg, Anglesey and died in hospital in Bangor.

“While living in Blacko on Tower Farm, he had a group called ‘The Westerners’ and they sang country music.”

And she added: “He left the area in 1966 for a new life in Wales, but his heart never left Worsthorne and the surrounding area.” She paid tribute to her father by saying: “RIP Dad, love you forever.”

And she is intrigued to know if people remember the nightclub where her parents met.
