A Clitheroe supermarket could be under threat with one of the UK’s largest chains set to close 43 stores nationwide.
Tesco is yet to announce whether its Clitheroe store will be included in the cull of its “unprofitable shops”.
The organisation’s new chief executive, Dave Lewis, made the dramatic announcement last Thursday, following two years of financial difficulties including falling sales and profit warnings.
Earlier this week, a Tesco spokesman said: “We have taken the difficult decision to close 43 of our stores. Our first priority is to consult colleagues who are impacted by these changes and we will be speaking to them over the coming weeks.”
