When Lois Cox from the Ribble Valley heard that TV’s Reverend Kate Bottley was visiting The Mall Blackburn as part of the town’s community carol service and festival of light, she knew she had to be there.
The 14-year-old went with her mum, Natalie, to meet the star and managed to get an autograph and picture.
Lois said: “It was great to meet Reverend Kate Bottley and she was just as lovely as she is on the television.”
Thousands of people turned out for Blackburn’s community carol service, which was followed by the hugely anticipated Festival of Light.
As promised by organisers, it was bigger, better and brighter than ever before with a spectacular line up that included fire performers, street food and music, the lantern parade and a grand firework finale.
Laura Diffey, marketing manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “It was fabulous to welcome the Reverend Kate Bottley to The Mall and she was a real hit with shoppers. The events are two of the highlights of the festive season here in Blackburn and they certainly didn’t disappoint!”
