An Indian restaurant in Clitheroe delivered a first-class performance to scoop the 2018 Big Bash Cricket Trophy.
Dil Raj bowled their customers over in a charity six-a-side match at Ribblesdale Wanderers Cricket Club.
Owner, Ali Romjanali, encouraged his Dil Raj Tigers to quickly pile on the runs on the superb batting track.
Steve and Kris bowled well, Jordan was deservedly rewarded with a wicket in his final over. However, the fast outfield favoured the batsman and a stylish 20 from Shomun supported with a quick 14 from Liton took the restaurant side to a highly respectable total of 109 for 1 in 10 overs.
The New Inn Sixers started well with both Steve and Jordan looking in fine form. However, some tight bowling from Liton and Shomun piled on the pressure capturing both Jordan then Kris in quick succession leaving New Inn 36 for 2.
Steve battled on for a tenacious 20 not out and was well supported with a very entertaining middle order knock of 20 from Ali which won him the Man of the Match award. A defiant 8 from wicket keeper Paul added excitement to the last over, but the New Inn fell just short with 85 for 2.
A spokesman said: "Many thanks to everyone who contributed as the splendid event raised £70 for The Ribble Valley Heart Fund. Special thanks to Mark Graham, John Steinson and all at Ribblesdale Wanderers Cricket Club for their hard work and generous use of the club’s excellent facilities."
