Children from a Clitheroe primary school laced up their trainers for the Race for Life event and managed to raise the grand total of £3,000.
Students from running club at St James Primary, led by Miss Cranswick and Mrs Barnes, organised the event which saw year one pupils complete a one mile circuit of the school playing field while key stage two students completed their challenge at Ribblesdale High School’s playing fields.
Pupils from Ribblesdale marshalled the event and parents, grandparents and school supporters went along to cheer the runners on who were all presented with a Race for Life medal for completing the challenge.
All the money raised was donated to Cancer Research UK and Pat Kenyon, a representative of the charity, went along to the school to accept the cheque from staff and children.
Mrs Barnes said: “We would like to thank everyone who sponsored us and supported the school to help us fe to this superb target.”
St James was just one of the many schools in the UK holding their own Race for Life to help fund cancer resesarch.
