Each year the residents of Clitheroe’s Shireburne Park raise money for charity and this past year they have been raising money for the Derian House Children’s Hospice at Chorley.
The funds were raised during a picnic on the park last June with live entertainment from local people and the Bethany girls from Tanzania. And although conditions proved very wet, the residents still managed to raise £1,100 on the day.
Over the winter residents have also staged bingo nights and held raffles to raise money for charity. And in April, they handed over a cheque for £1,470 to the delight of Derian House.
Thanks have been expressed to all those who attended the picnic and supported the winter raffles.
Another picnic will be held in July to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support (Ribble Valley).
