Rossendale House Nursery and Baby Unit will be taking part in a sponsored spinathon on Thursday.

The event, from 9am to 5pm outside the York Street establishment, has been organised to encourage people to donate food which will be distributed to local, underprivileged people at Christmas by local man, Paul David Hacker.

A spokesman said: "We ask people to confidentially nominate less fortunate families and we provide food, gas and electric on Christmas Eve to see them and there children enjoy Christmas day and Boxing Day with food, utilities and sometimes even small gifts.

"Please help by donating a small amount or come down and support us on the day! We will also be selling reindeer dust for children, and all money will go towards this fundraiser."
